Brunost is a type of Norwegian ‘ whey cheese ’ although not actually a type of cheese, made by reducing cow and / or goats milk whey and cream to produce a thick brown, soft cheese like solid, with a tangy caramel flavour. It is one of Norway’s most famous culinary products. Brunost is used to top sandwiches and crispbreads for Smörgåsbord, breakfasts, and in a typical Norwegian packed lunch box.
